OSHA
Update Seminar
Our six hour OSHA Update
Seminar will cover three major topics of current interest with
approximately two hours devoted to each.
Payment for Personal Protective
Equipment
OSHAs Revised Personal
Protective Equipment Law goes into effect on February 13, 2008.
Full compliance is required by May 15, 2008. The new revision
deals with who pays for which items of personal protective equipment
and appears deceptively simple. Unfortunately, when OSHA published
the revisions they also published 90 pages of detailed explanation
of the new rule, including 20 pages of fine print covering
exactly what the employer must pay for, when they must pay for
it, how they must pay for it, and when the equipment must be
replaced at no cost to the employee.
Bloodborne Pathogens Standard
We will review the OSHA Bloodborne
Pathogens Standard (BPS) with emphasis on requirements of the
law that are commonly misunderstood. We will also cover new and
revised Interpretations of the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard
from OSHA which they are also enforcing. Recent Interpretations
cover:
Annual refresher training
requirements.
Requirement for the use of blunt tip suture needles.
Handling contaminated sharps and regulated waste.
Requirements for providing first aid trained personnel.
Hazard Communication Standard
- Right to Know
OSHAs Hazard Communication
Standard was their most cited General Industry safety
standard again last year. It applies to all employers who have
or use chemicals at work, regardless of how small or large the
quantity. Even pharmaceutical drugs, office supplies, cleaning
products, and consumer products you can purchase at stores are
covered chemicals!
Questions will be taken and
answered throughout the presentation.
